Summary: "Compact and does its job"

The cooker is perfect for two people, its compact size is the right size for our tiny apartment. It does spew steam from the nozzle but all stream cookers do. I am happy with my purchase.

Summary: "Loooove this rice cooker!"

I had had the same Hitachi rice cooker since I moved out on my own for 10 years! and it still worked. Kudos for hitachi for that, but it was looking old and nasty and really needed to be put out of its misery.

I bought this one which is much smaller but it makes more than enough rice for a family of 4 two eat two meals from. And we are not small portion eaters! It is small, compact, and cute. It has a non-stick pot so the rice will not stick to the bottom, which it would with my old hitachi.

My only gripe is that it does not reheat the rice as thoroughly as my hitachi did. The top of the rice is still cold while the bottom is steaming hot. You have to stir the rice around a bit and then turn it back on again.

I have been cooking rice for years but lately my short grain brown rice has been less than stellar. Over the weekend
I was watching a cooking program for the best chef. I noticed that one of the contestants was using an electric rice cooker and was making brown rice........... So I thought hmmmmmmmm. I ofcourse my favorite one stop, one click shopping is at Amazon.com. I read the reviews for the above rice cooker and decided it was the best bet.
It came in two days!

Anyway, last night I was reading the directions and thought I was losing my mind as they were less than stellar.
hmmmmmm. So back to the reviews. I read manny of them and took to heart many of the points. I guess everyone has
their own ideal how to use the rice cooker. So I decided to rinse the rice and then go with 2 1/2 cups of water, 1 cup of
brown rice, a splash of olive oil and salt. Amazingly enough the rice was perfect. I also sprayed it with pam. It makes a nice amount of rice.
Now I have moved on to the rice pudding. I am not a big fan of rice pudding but I thought this might be better and I might like it.

I have some of that steel cut Irish oatmeal and am thinking of soaking it over night in the cooker and jump out of bed in the morning and plug it in.......Stay tuned. I might wear out the cooker in a short time.
As a good snack try adding a little peanut butter and soy sauce to a serving of brown rice as a snack. Yummmmmmm.

Back again. Yes I did the oatmeal thing. Soaked steel cut oats overnight in cooker and turned it on first thing.
Excellent! Also made the rice pudding. Took note to half the recipe. Good advice. Excellent. Wondering if I can use evaporated milk instead of the coconut milk. Today I made Quinoa and it came out perfect. I cup of Quinoa to
two cups of water. Plus a little salt. I will probably wear it out. Good thing I am going away for awhile!

Shipment was fast. I ordered two, one for my son and one for myself. They were nicely packed. The rice cooker is in high quality. It is good for small family. Easy to clean and looks handsome. You can place the rice scooper at the side handle which is very convenient. I bring it with me while I am traveling. I boil eggs for breakfast and cook pasta or rice for the evening.

Summary: "Very Disappointed"

Bought this Rice Cooker for my daughter's birthday. She opened it and threw the box away. A week later she told me that it was a nice rice cooker, but that she missed the steaming basket (she steams vegetables a lot). The box indicated that it's a rice cooker/steamer and the Panasonic Web Page also indicates that the accessories included are, "Rice Scoop, Steam Basket Measuring Cup". However, the box did not contain a steam basket. Went back to the store, purchased another one and again, no steam basket. Called Panasonic and a technical support representative told me that even though the box clearly indicated rice cooker/steamer, that the steamer basket was not included with this model. I asked him how I was I supposed to steam vegetables, and he didn't have an answer. I'm pretty disappointed at Panasonic. The box should have only read "Rice Cooker" only, or should have indicated somewhere on the outside that the steam basket was not included, or available for purchase as an accessory, but instead they labeled it as Rice Cooker/Steamer. Totally deceiving!!! Don't buy this product if you want a rice cooker/steamer!!!!
